The Perth Inner City Group presents our advocacy priorities for the 2025 State and Federal elections. Our objective is to collaborate across our borders to make the Perth Inner City the most appealing destination for our residents, visitors, businesses, and investors.
Our advocacy agenda aims to influence the government funding of projects which will deliver vitality and wellbeing across our inner-city communities. Our priority areas are:
An Accessible Inner City:
- Progress planning for public transport providing low cost and high frequency transit.
- Greater State Government support for traffic and transport precinct planning.
- Implement a new Inner City Slow Speed Zone of 40km/h on all local roads.
- Enhance ferry infrastructure and services across key Swan River nodes.
- Accelerate connectivity of the cycle network within the Perth Inner City.
A Green & Sustainable Inner City:
- Protect and grow the urban tree canopy to create a cool and green Inner City:
- Change the state planning framework, in line with the Perth Inner City Group’s May 2024 statement regarding ‘Tree Retention of Private Property’.
- Greater Federal and State Government funding to address tree loss from Polyphagous shot-hole borer (PSHB).
- Accelerate underground power program across the Perth Inner City.
A Vibrant Inner City:
- Continued State Government support to attract major events to Perth.
- Increased promotion of Perth as a destination for interstate and international visitors.
- Support more student accommodation development in the Inner City.
- Collaborate with State Government on sport and recreation facilities.
An Inner City for Everyone:
- Seek State Government commitment to upgrade and redevelop Royal Perth Hospital precinct.
- Federal and State Government support for more affordable housing options in the Inner City.
We’re committed to advocating to all tiers of government and political stakeholders to drive investment for the benefit of everyone who lives in, works in, and visits the Perth Inner City.
